Jesus among Friends and Enemies Giveaway—Chris Keith

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO ENTER

We’re continuing our giveaways of copies of our books here at The Jesus Blog.  Baker Academic will be giving a free copy of my and Larry Hurtado’s Jesus among Friends and Enemies: A Historical and Literary Introduction to Jesus in the Gospels!

There are once again three opportunities to enter the contest—comment here, sign up to follow the blog (and leave a comment saying that you did), and share this post on Facebook (and leave a comment saying that you did).

We’ll announce a winner in one week’s time.  As to the book itself, the contributors to the volume include this blog’s own Anthony Le Donne and a host of other top scholars.  The chapters are as follows:

PART ONE—The Friends of Jesus
God and Angels (Edith Humphrey)
John the Baptist (Michael Bird)
The Disciples (Warren Carter)
The Family of Jesus (Richard Bauckham)
Other Friends of Jesus: Mary Magdalene, the Bethany Family, and the Beloved Disciple (Dieter Roth)
Secret Disciples (David M. Allen)

PART TWO—The Enemies of Jesus
Satan and Demons (Loren Stuckenbruck)
The Jewish Leaders (Anthony Le Donne)
Political Authorities: The Herods, Caiaphas, and Pontius Pilate (Helen K. Bond)
Judas Iscariot: The Betrayer of Jesus (Holly J. Carey)

Conclusion: Seeking the Historical Jesus among Friends and Enemies (Chris Keith with Larry Hurtado)

    ReplyDelete

    1. True story: when I was in 1st grade, a guest presenter came to my classroom and taught us that if we were ever lost in the woods, it was best not to wander around aimlessly. Our rescuers would have a better chance of finding us, so I was told, if we just stayed put. And if we felt scared or lonely we should "hug a tree." ...in case you were wondering, I quite literally hugged a tree once. I was curious and it was a phase. My wife knows and we've worked through it.

How I do miss the California public school system!
