Barry Schwartz will be presenting in Dayton

I have just received very good news about our upcoming conference in Dayton. In addition to an utter embarrassment of wealth in Jesus scholarship present, we will also welcome the world's foremost expert on Social Memory theory, who also happens to be the most respected voice in the world on historiography related to Abraham Lincoln.  If you've ever had the pleasure of hearing Prof. Barry Schwartz speak at SBL, you'll know that he is always brilliant, engaging, and is not shy about critiquing biblical scholars when he disagrees with them.  I have often appreciated his relative optimism about how much historians are able to know about Jesus.  In a field that is marked by idiosyncratic methodologies designed to obscure the Jesus of history, Prof. Schwartz is a breath of fresh air.
