Quarterly Quote of the Month about Jesus for this Week

"No young scholar should ever write a book about Jesus."

  1. I've heard Jesus himself called an overidealistic young man.

Interesting contrast with the more commanding older Father. Though not as wispy as the Spirit.

  2. Thus, it's OK when you're 43. Prof Guelich was 43 when he completed "The Sermon on the Mount, a Foundation for Understanding" :)

  3. He still sounds too young and idealistic to me. But he was writing around 1988? When inspirational content could mix with scholarly writing.

For me the problem with the SM,was the twisting of the promise of a literal kingdom, into a metaphor for attaining a spiritual kingdom in your mind or imagination. As if we could live on nice thoughts or dreams alone.
