Last week in the mail I received my contributor
copy of The New Cambridge History of the
Bible: From the Beginnings to 600. I
was very fortunate to co-author with Larry Hurtado Chapter Four: “Writing and Book Production in the
Hellenistic and Roman Periods” (my contribution is found on pages 71–80). This book will no doubt be the standard work
on the Bible, in all its many languages, translations, adaptations, uses, etc.
in the ancient world, for years to come.
I offer heartfelt congratulations to the editors, James Carleton Paget
(Cambridge) and Joachim Schaper (Aberdeen), for their successful completion of
a monumental task.
